How does StakeHabit work?
You create a habit, set a penalty amount, and choose a charity you'd rather not donate to. Each day your habit is scheduled, you check in. If you miss, the penalty is automatically charged to your card and donated to your chosen cause.
When is my card charged?
Only when you log a missed check-in. Nothing is charged on days you complete your habit or on rest days. You are never charged without logging a result first.
How do I add or update my payment method?
Go to Settings → Payment → Add Payment Method (or Update Card). Your card details are handled securely by Stripe. We never store raw card numbers.
Can I change my habit after creating it?
You can edit your habit's name and description at any time from the home screen. The schedule, penalty amount, and charity are locked after creation to preserve accountability.
How do I delete my habit or account?
To delete your habit, open the habit detail view and tap Delete Habit. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, go to Settings → Delete Account. This action cannot be undone.
Are the donations real?
Yes. When a penalty is charged, the funds (minus a small Stripe processing fee) are donated to the organization you selected when setting up your habit.
How do I set up daily reminders?
Go to Settings → Notifications → Daily Reminder. Toggle it on, grant notification permission, and set your preferred time. Reminders only fire on days your habit is scheduled and only if you haven't already checked in.
When does my donation reach the charity?
Donations are processed in batches and sent to your chosen organization within 72 hours of each missed check-in charge.
I was charged but I did complete my habit. What do I do?
Please contact us using the email below with your account details and the date in question. We'll look into it and make it right.
